So you have bought your Your First Harmonica and you have been playing for a while. Now you would like to have a second one with an another key, but which one?
This question is a little bit trickier than when buying your first harmonica.
Your first diatonic harmonica should always be in key of C. This is because almost all of the tutorials and lessons are made for diatonic harmonica in key of C due to it being the most common. Also C-harmonica is in mid range from its tonal range, so it should be one of the easiest to start playing with
Second harmonica you should buy depends more about your personal preferences.
Do you play more country or folk music with guitar? Harmonica in key of G would be great choice, lots of train chucking rythms works great on G harmonica. Neil Young`s Heart of Gold is originally played with G.
Are you planning to play the Blues? I would probably choose harmonica in key of A, or Bb. These harmonicas when played in 2nd position has very popular Blues keys and these tonal range are lower than in key of C.
So they sound amazing!
